WILD PLANTS AND SOULFUL SONGS – with Deirdre O’Leary
Begin at Coach House in Cloughjordan Ecovillage at 2:30pm – Sunday 19th May
Deirdre O’Leary, a professional musician and facilitator with over 20 years experience in leading interactive and creative workshops for all ages, offers a workshop with a walking tour of the Ecovillage lands, and an introduction to our wild plants. For families and mixed age groups, followed by a cup of wild tea and some earthy songs for all to sing.
BUTTERFLY WALK – with Rachel Vaughan and Brendan Sheehan
Cuan Beo* at 11:00am – Tuesday 21st May
Rachel Vaughan and Brendan Sheehan, who have been taking part in the Butterfly Monitoring Scheme each summer for about 10 years will make a presentation on the butterflies we should expect to find at this time of year. They will then lead a walk along the Ecovillage biodiversity trail to identify any butterflies to be seen.
KNOW YOUR LOCAL BIRDS – with Jemima Turner
Cuan Beo* at 8:00pm – Thursday 23rd May
Learn to identify local birds by sound and sight. Talk followed by a dusk walk to hear the bird chorus.
FAMILY EVENT EXPLORING BIODIVERSITY AND NATURE CRAFTING – inspired by forest school techniques.
Cuan Beo* at 2:00pm – Saturday 25th May
Children with adults will explore crafting from the natural world and take away their handmade creations with them (suitable for 6-10 year olds but siblings welcome).
DARK SKIES AND BIODIVERSITY – with John Flannery
Thomas MacDonagh Museum, Cloughjordan at 7:00pm – Saturday 25th May
A short presentation on light pollution and a talk by John Flannery on astronomy.
CLOUGHJORDAN CINE CLUB – Film Screening ‘The Silver Branch’
Thomas MacDonagh Museum, Cloughjordan at 8:00pm – Sunday 26th May
This film is about one man’s journey through life which underpins a search to reconnect with nature and culture as primary sources from which we learn a deeper understanding of ourselves and our surroundings.
